Importing contacts from a CSV file is a fundamental skill for data migration. Whether moving to a new phone or setting up an email marketing list, the process is standard.

Format Your CSV

Ensure your Excel file has clear headers. The most compatible standard is the Google CSV format:

Name,Given Name,Family Name,Mobile Phone
John Doe,John,Doe,555-0199
Jane Smith,Jane,Smith,555-0200

Importing to Google Contacts

1. Go to contacts.google.com.
2. Click Import on the sidebar.
3. Select your CSV file.
4. Google will automatically map the columns. Review any errors.

Once synced, these contacts will automatically appear on any Android device logged into the same account.
