The "Save for Web" Legacy
In CS6, the magic command is File > Save for Web (Legacy).
- JPEG: Use for photos. Set quality to 60-80% for the best balance of size and quality.
- PNG-24: Use for logos or images with transparency.
- GIF: Use only for simple animations (avoid for photos).
Resizing for Screens
Always resize your image before saving. Go to Image > Image Size and ensure the resolution is 72 PPI (Pixels Per Inch), which is standard for screens.
