Windows Tip: Automatically Lock Your PC with Dynamic Lock

Secure Your Workstation with Bluetooth

Both Windows 10 and 11 act as smart operating systems that can detect when you walk away from your desk. This feature, called Dynamic Lock, uses Bluetooth to pair with your phone.

How to Set It Up

  1. Pair Your Phone: Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices and pair your smartphone.
  2. Enable Dynamic Lock:
    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
    • Scroll down to "Dynamic lock".
    • Check the box: "Allow Windows to automatically lock your device when you're away."

How It Works

Once paired, Windows monitors the RSSI (signal strength) of your phone's Bluetooth connection. If you walk away with your phone and the signal drops significantly (usually out of room range), Windows locks the screen after about a minute.
